What is Soma?

Carisoprodol is the generic name of Soma. Muscle spasms and pain are extremely painful. Soma is an oral muscle relaxant. A muscle relaxant affects the muscle function; Soma is nor the painkillers neither the opioid. It works by blocking the pain between the nerves and the brain. It is also used with some physical therapies to treat the pain. It is prescribed for a short period because there is no evidence of its effectiveness in the long term. 

What are the other pieces of information you should know?

Do not take Soma if you have porphyria or any allergic reaction from Soma. It may sometimes be habit-forming. Do not give your medicine with anyone else without consulting your doctor. Misuse of Soma can cause addiction, overdose, and death. It can also affect your thinking ability. Avoid taking alcohol with Soma because it increases the effect of the medicine. You may observe some withdrawal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, headache, fever, dizziness, and weakness when you suddenly stop the consumption of Soma. 

Tell your doctor if you had any diseases related to the liver and kidney or have a seizure. It is not recommended for children below the age of sixteen years. Soma passes in breast milk, which may cause drowsiness in the new-born baby.  Old citizens may have a more severe impact on side effects than others. 

How to take Soma?

Use Soma as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all the instructions written on the prescription letter. It is taken by mouth with or without as directed by your doctor three times a day. It should be considered for two to three weeks. Do not suddenly stop the consumption of Soma after extended use. Keep the record of your medicine. Do not take Soma without the prescription because it results in abuse of the drug. The dose of the Soma is 250 to 350 mg daily before bedtime. 

What happens if you miss the dose?

If you miss your dose, then take your dose as soon as you remember. Do not take the missed dose if the time of the next dose is near. To cover the missed dose, do not take two doses together.

What happens if you overdose the medicine?

Soma overdose occurs to any person who takes an excess of medicine and does not follow the doctor's prescription. Symptoms of Soma can vary from person to person according to age. Some common symptoms of an overdose of Soma are Rapid heartbeat, Shallow breathing, Vision problems, Hallucinations, Muscle stiffness, mental confusion, Light-headedness, Fainting, Convulsions, Coma.

If you are experiencing any of the soma overdose symptoms, then you need addiction treatment immediately. Delay in the procedure can cause death or permanent damage to health. So, it is essential to get quick medical treatment. 

What are the side effects of Soma?

Along with various benefits, Soma causes some unwanted side effects. Not all the side effects need to require medical attention; some side effects go away with time. Check with your health consultant if you observe any side effects in you. Side effects of Soma are Drowsiness, Anxiety, fast breathing with dizziness, dry mouth, fainting, warm face, heartburn, irritability, nausea, nervousness, numbness of the feet, pain, discomfort in the chest, unsteady walk, sleeplessness, trouble sleeping, unable to sleep, unsteadiness, trembling, muscle control problem, and vomiting.  Your doctor will tell you the ways to reduce the risk of the side effects.
